The Swarajya magazine (started by Rajaji to foster a freemarket-small government ideology and right-of-centre thinking in the country) has a series of videographed interviews at length (1 hr 45 minutes plus!!) called ‘The Right People’. I was so interviewed the other day and that interaction is now uploaded. Perhaps good for a Sunday viewing when there may be little else to do.

At around 8.30, you mention that Pakistan says Indian Intelligence Agencies are involved in Balochistan, Baltistan etc vis-a-vis what Pakistan backed & sponsored militants do in India.
Well, no Indian personnel have been caught in such activities over there. Secondly, they
have not mustered any evidence to support their claims which, in any case, are just to fool their own people and
to justify their hand in Kashmir and elsewhere in India. Their attempt to malign India by catching Kulbhushan Yadav, supposedly from Iran backs this view point. So, how do you then justify your statements. Even if India has a indirect hand in Balochistan (more likely compared to others) do you believe that Pakistan would renounce terrorism if India withdraws all such alleged support
from there? How much China can actually help in this regard if India deals with it more sternly?
It may agree only to JEM chief being declared a UN declared terrorist, nothing more..
Thanks for this wonderful interview mr. Karnad. I really love your viewpoint with regards to Jinnah view about Muslim India (Pakistan) protecting india s western borders. Do you think india should try to resolve the kashmir issue based upon this aspect?
Yes, but not if it means surrendering any strategically valuable real estate which, shorn of its political frippery, is what the Kashmir issue is all about.
Thanks a lot for your reply Dr. Karnad. However when you want India increasing her troop strength on the Chinese border instead of the current massive deployment on our Western frontier, do you not think that the 6 Lakh strong Indian military presence in Kashmir actually harms an increased Indian troop presence on the Chinese border ?
excellent interview sir
