‘We, the People’ on NDTV had a discussion on Modi’s foreign policy.

    You really set the cat amongst the pigeons with your nuclear arming Vietnam comment. You immediately were labeled as unrealistic with others not thinking for one second, what is in our national interests and how do you meet the China challenge. Good, these folks need some jolt into reality.

    This may sound pessimistic ……but I wonder if these people are really jolted into reality as they are seasoned players and very little effects them . The culture in our country for generations has been one of passivity and emotional responses pass of as analysis in the public sphere.

    While I agree with Bharat , I really wonder if our policy makers even bother to think on those lines.

    Most of our policy makers are little better than boy scouts from Public Schools

      90% of our elceted reps in lok sabha are village pathshala-govt high school, HMTs (Hindi Medium Trained — Shekhar Gupta’s priceless phrase!)

        Yes, but while they may be the cause of general unawareness the real challenge being faced by India are because of the 10% English medium trained, not really Indians kind of people.

        Hindi medium Indians never told the establishment de-prioritize national interests for the benefits of playing the great game.

        For all you know every single Hindi medium guy on the road will support the nuke arming of Vietnam. Its just that the Americans are also trying to buy their way into the Vietnamese hierarchy (unfortunately they do not have elections that need big election funding and consequently are less purchasable compared to the Indian establishment. And since the Americans are trying, so the Indian establishment dutifully backed off like the house dog it is.

        Problem is not if they are Hindi medium or English medium as long as the decisions made by the reps do not collide with the national interests, but sadly that is the case normally

        Actually i am quite surprised that NDTV of all the channels had Bharatji as a panelist since he is someone who does not mince words and does not sugarcoat reality with complex words and phrases.
        This goes on to show that as long as it is something against the present govt. or should i say Modi, they do not care who it is, as long as they point out a chink in Modi’s armour, but sadly those morons as the other panelists are too dumb to understand and recognize the gravity and seriousness of what Bharatji is saying.
        Wait, maybe this can be used by the present govt. to its advantage since the opposition will oppose whatever Modi plans to do regardless of what is at stake, maybe it can be used to wipe out and weed out all the people who are in the anti-national cabal and are somehow endangering our country and its interests, but i do not think Modi has the mind nor his ministers will do anything of that sought even if they have a chance.

        I feel it is a mistake to paint all “HMT” as ignorant fools unless they hold an ivy league degree.
        After all there is a phenomenon called “street smarts”, which fortunately no ivy league can ever offer . And the fact remains that the world never belonged to the “nerds or arm chair intellectuals” as they are mere tools, incapable of doing what they profess on their own.

        I for one believe foreign policy is more about courage and street smarts more than anything else.

      What’s the best result that you can expect democracy to produce in a nation of malnutritioned and maleducated voters?

      Leadership ability peaks at IQ 140. Leader-follower relationships are impossible with an IQ difference of 30. Average Indian IQ is 80. The best result that you can expect is 110.
