COAS and chairman, chiefs of staff committee, ACM “Charlie” Browne, for no reason that makes sense, thundered that stronger actions may be resorted to to maintain the sanctity of the ceasefire. For god’s sake, if the military or GOI mean to do something by way of hard retaliation for the mutilation of the bodies of Indian soldiers, please, please, please don’t talk about it. Just do it! But Indians indulge in big talk — it is free!, but don’t follow up with action, as the US does. Act first and don’t talk at all, should be India’s motto — that is what true karm yogis, such as the Israelis do. If as I mentioned in my preceding blog, it is army’s issue to avenge Pakistani misdeeds — well, why are the Special Forces not doing anything? There better be something brewing at the SF-end. And someone needs to quiet the terrorist loudmouth, Hafiz Saeed.

Mr. Karnad, what you say is logical, but not practical in the current situation. I’m sure that the Indian Armed Forces are capable of retaliatory strikes. However, what would be the political fallout if the ISI or (say) Dawood Ibrahim came out with hard evidence of the financial and other dealings they have had and still continue to have the powers-that-be in India should any retaliation take place and/or a high profile terrorist leader in Pakistan is “rubbed off”? The source of much of the causes of Indian impotence can eventually be traced back to Raisana Hill and Lutyens Delhi!
Now I know the the reason for INDIAN impotence
Further to what RV has said, the simple fact is that Indian Armed Forces have been reduced to a State of Impotency by both Political & Bureaucratic day to day interference. There has been no major Arms System induction. since ages. COAS of all the three Services simply cannot have audience with their own Prime Minister. Even in the present case some scape goat is bound to be found out to divert and forget the main issue .Even a pygmy like Mauritius has brow beaten us by showing their eyes. It is too late. Come 2014 let the Americans & NATO withdraw from Afghanistan, complete JEHAD machinery will pounce upon us like hungry ‘CARNIVORE’. The only fire fighting solution lies in forthwith disbandment of Ministry Of Defense the main culprits & be substituted by Chief of Defense Staff other wise we are “DOOMED”
Further to
Arms Inductions are stalled by all the ACSs raising bogeys till the force becomes depleted.
